Feed Me's Calamari Tuesday Release

What better way to relight the flames of my EDM blog than by firstly accepting roll as the worst blogger in the history of the blogosphere, god that word is painful to use. Anyway one of my favorite producers the critically acclaimed Feed Me's first full length album dropped yesterday to huge reception by the EDM community. Offering a diverse blend of genres and instrumentation Feed Me takes you through a huge soundscape which is beautifully crafted and produced. This has been Feed Me's main reason for stepping out of the DJ world months ago. He wanted to get back to crafting his real passion which is production, not performance.

“This is my first full-length album. It represents a journey through various styles of music, 2 years of intensive touring around the world in a variety of incredible locations, and the construction of my live show and imaginary friend, from sketches into tangible reality. It's something I now see as a collaboration between me and Feed Me. It's very serious.” Jon Gooch, Feed Me

The album is available for free streaming on Sotto Voce's website, Feed Me's self made label for a 24 hour time block for the next 19 hours. To tide over late readers and those who just want to listen to the single of the album, Lonely Mountain.

Feed Me - Lonely Mountain

This song offers a great introduction to the album, with a beautifully blended and crafted sound that takes from a multi-genre base. The audiophiles out there will notice the high production value of the entire album which isn't make a difference for a lot of people but it really shows how much work Feed Me put into this. For the collectors out there Feed Me has released a vinyl edition of the album available to over from Amazon.

Feed Me leaves us at the end of the album with a delicate symphonic outro. Which is probably one of the more meaningful sections of the album because Gooch has led us through this eclectic soundscape that has stylized Trance, Electro House, Grime, Dubstep, Trap, and more into one cohesive album. He has left everything on the table in order to produce this well done album for his fans.

For those that cannot get enough Feed Me has done an in-depth interview with Vibe to talk about his new label and album.

Available:
Vinyl UK (sold out currently)

I'm Back! Koven - More than You

So I haven't posted anything in months and letting this blog fall to the side didn't seem right to me, especially after having so many views since the last post, so I'm starting posting again, and plan on it being like it was when this was in it's peak at least 5 or so post a week. So get ready for an eclectic mix of EDM.

So what to talk about for the first post back.. Well Koven had a killer new single pop up a BBC 1Xtra Mix a week or so back, and songs like this are amazing for the reason that they completely counter when anyone says that Dubstep has no musical qualities. This song opens up with a great acoustic progression that leads into a beautiful vocal arrangement, sounds kinda like your average song to me right? With some flourishes of piano here and there in the track.

Koven - More Than You

But this tune is huge and should be up for release in early 2013 no confirmed date that I could find.

Koven also had to remake their facebook account from some legality issues and had to make a fresh one a while ago, so go there and show them some love with a like.

Mau5hax Miami

What turned out to be nearly a 12hr production session was streamed through live.deadmau5.com. The day, hosted by Honor Roll Music studios and in partnership with beatport, saw visits and support from Feed Me, Moguai, Kill The Noise and a last minute vocal performance from Foreign Beggars – who’s lyrical inspiration came from a facebook and twitter post. We had 5 competition winners in the building. Steve Duda managed one room, Beatport’s Albert Gonzalez and mau5trap’s new signing The Frederick the other, and deadmau5 bounced between the two hot seats all day and night. The results were two huge tracks.

The Death Set - They Come and Get Us

The Death Set isn't your normal punk band out of Philly, they call themselves Art Punk. Imagine blending Punk and Electronic then spiking your drink with acid. They released the music video to their huge bonus track off Michel Poiccard that dropped a year ago. With a "Back to the Future" based intro tare through the streets with this group with their pop culture surrealism.

Flux Pavilion ft. Example - Daydreamer

As always Flux Pavilion never disappoints especially when working with fellow UK electronic artist Example, "Midnight Run". Flux's wall of bass is as strong as ever, with a great drum beat behind it to get you moving. This song comes with high anticipation because it is a single off his forthcoming album that will be released April 30th. And there's a pretty sweet music video to go along with it.

Millions Like Us - Equinox

Millions Like Us has been killing the music scene over the past few months from their collaboration with SOFI on her EP Locked and Loaded, and the given exposure from UKF. These guys are great because they stay stray away from Grime and keep it bright and clean. You can download the track Move In Closer from liking their facebook/soundcloud page, it says buy, but it's free.

Excition & Downlink - Crowd Control

The latest release from Excision & Downlink is just as heavy and filthy as their compilations usually are. This is a heavy drumstep track with a Lazer Bass This track opens with an intensely heavy ambient pad, with a bit crushed kick that transitions into a brutal drop. This track has the feel of taking you into some chaotic future warzone.
