I'm Back! Koven - More than You

So I haven't posted anything in months and letting this blog fall to the side didn't seem right to me, especially after having so many views since the last post, so I'm starting posting again, and plan on it being like it was when this was in it's peak at least 5 or so post a week. So get ready for an eclectic mix of EDM.

So what to talk about for the first post back.. Well Koven had a killer new single pop up a BBC 1Xtra Mix a week or so back, and songs like this are amazing for the reason that they completely counter when anyone says that Dubstep has no musical qualities. This song opens up with a great acoustic progression that leads into a beautiful vocal arrangement, sounds kinda like your average song to me right? With some flourishes of piano here and there in the track.

Koven - More Than You

But this tune is huge and should be up for release in early 2013 no confirmed date that I could find.

Koven also had to remake their facebook account from some legality issues and had to make a fresh one a while ago, so go there and show them some love with a like.

Mau5hax Miami

What turned out to be nearly a 12hr production session was streamed through live.deadmau5.com. The day, hosted by Honor Roll Music studios and in partnership with beatport, saw visits and support from Feed Me, Moguai, Kill The Noise and a last minute vocal performance from Foreign Beggars – who’s lyrical inspiration came from a facebook and twitter post. We had 5 competition winners in the building. Steve Duda managed one room, Beatport’s Albert Gonzalez and mau5trap’s new signing The Frederick the other, and deadmau5 bounced between the two hot seats all day and night. The results were two huge tracks.

Zeds Dead ft. Omar Linx Victor EP

Zeds Dead one of the bigger acts in the Dubstep world finally released some new material that has been highly anticipated. This EP features the rapper Omar LinX, who's work extends years back with Zeds Dead. The EP uses great sampling from 90s hip-hop tracks, and features two older collaborations between Zeds Dead and Omar Linx, Rude Boy and a re-worked Eyes on Fire (Jackie Boy 2.0). This album  has been released off Mad Decent's Jeffree Label for free.

The Death Set - They Come and Get Us

The Death Set isn't your normal punk band out of Philly, they call themselves Art Punk. Imagine blending Punk and Electronic then spiking your drink with acid. They released the music video to their huge bonus track off Michel Poiccard that dropped a year ago. With a "Back to the Future" based intro tare through the streets with this group with their pop culture surrealism.

Flux Pavilion ft. Example - Daydreamer

As always Flux Pavilion never disappoints especially when working with fellow UK electronic artist Example, "Midnight Run". Flux's wall of bass is as strong as ever, with a great drum beat behind it to get you moving. This song comes with high anticipation because it is a single off his forthcoming album that will be released April 30th. And there's a pretty sweet music video to go along with it.

Millions Like Us - Equinox

Millions Like Us has been killing the music scene over the past few months from their collaboration with SOFI on her EP Locked and Loaded, and the given exposure from UKF. These guys are great because they stay stray away from Grime and keep it bright and clean. You can download the track Move In Closer from liking their facebook/soundcloud page, it says buy, but it's free.

Excition & Downlink - Crowd Control

The latest release from Excision & Downlink is just as heavy and filthy as their compilations usually are. This is a heavy drumstep track with a Lazer Bass This track opens with an intensely heavy ambient pad, with a bit crushed kick that transitions into a brutal drop. This track has the feel of taking you into some chaotic future warzone.

Stumbleine Drifting Youth EP

Just learned about Stumbleine thought chillwave producer Sun Glitters, and could help but notice this chillwave group from Bristol released a new EP this week which was pretty convenient. These sounds blew me away everything is warm and has been given a washed out sound. These warm and inviting sounds make this prefect for Spring rolling around the corner.

Listen to the rest of the EP on stumbleine's bandcamp and if you feel like purchasing it, it's only 3 pounds.

Back to the 80s

Teknian on the right

Teknian a 17 year old Swedish producer, just released an 80s fuled synthpop track, conveniently named 1984. Like any other producer out there Teknian breathed his own style of production into it, and the result was a clash of past and present. This is a pretty untapped style of electronic music, and if Teknian keeps at it, I'm expecting some pretty amazing things out of this guy. Also there's a pretty sweet music video for this track that compliments it well with Back to the Future scenes.

Goob Vibes

I came across a great track today, Vibes by Goob. Goob is an insanely talented Los Angeles Electro Hop producer/beatmaker, which is pretty much Bass Music crossed with hip hop. The vocal track used is “Hello” by Martin Solveig & Dragonette which ties this song together, a simply mesmerizing progression to the song makes you never want it to end.

You can download this track from his soundcloud page.

NiT GriT - Purple

One of my favorite producers just released a new melodic dubstep track. His uploads are becoming less frequent, but the tracks he's releasing are sick. His mission in his tracks is to evoke the raw emotions that electronic music is to said to lack. This common misconception is erased with this track, through the melodic and creative use of beats he employs a soundscape which shows the emotion driven in this track.

New Navy - Zimbabwe (Flume Chillwave Remix)

I usually try to focus on new music coming out, but really all I care about is bringing you great music. Who cares if it's a few months old. This track is a great chilled out dreamy remix by Flume, an Australian producer who has a great production abilities, the original is from a great beach pop/indie band from Australia, New Navy. This combination creates the ultimate relaxing soundscape possible from music. Fans of Chillwave should definitely look into this song, and more by Flume.

Nero - Must Be the Feeling (Flux Pavilion & Nero Remix)

Last year was an incredible year for Nero, they are the only British dance act of 2011 to have a #1 album and Promises was the first ever UK dubstep #1 single. Nero were nominated for Best New Act at the prestigious Q Awards last year. Not only that, but they also managed to sell-out their first ever UK headline tour as well as putting on epic performances at festivals all over the world. With this year coming on in full force they are starting off strong with the video release of Must Be The Feeling music video, a US Tour, planned performances at festivals, and this great rework of the original with Flux Pavilion.

It's a Knife Party

UK artist Labrinth was picked up and held to great expectations by being signed to Simon Cowell's record label Syco, becoming the first non-talent show signing in six years. His singles as a main artist and featuring on tracks have all been in the top 5 of the UK charts. Knife Party was chosen to remix the song Last Time from his forthcoming album, with is in high anticipation. Knife Party has done it again releasing another great Electro House tune remixing Labrinth's song Last Time. This song stays true to Knife Party's sound. Is full of energy, with great use of the vocal track, great buildup to drop a huge driving bass line that just can't help make you move, and beautifully scaled synths.

Gemini US Spring Tour with KOAN Sound

KOAN Sound has been confirmed to be touring with Gemini on his US Spring tour. This is a sick Glitch Hop duo. I'm glad they found a great group to tour with one of my favorite producers, the combination of these artist will cause a great spectrum of sound during their shows. From the crushing clean bass of Gemini, to the dirty glitched beats of KOAN Sound.

High Contrast Single

Been really diggin the works of British producers lately, and that isn't changing with this post. High contrast released a couple great Drum & Bass songs off his forthcoming album. The Agony & The Ecstasy is by far going to be the anthem for his album. He featured Selah Corbin on this song who's voice really brings this song to another level.  Also they put together an amazing music video for the song.

High Contrast's EP is amking me really anxious for his forthcoming album which is dropping February 27th you can pre-order it now off iTunes.

Nick Thayer Debut EP

Nick Thayer released his debut EP Like Boom on Skrillex's Record Label, OSWLA. This EP is a great mixture of upbeat Electro House to Dubstep. Skrillex found Thayer spinning in a club in Melbourne, decided he liked his material and offered his a spot on the OWSLA crew. The song Facepalm is a great example of what this album offers, this seamless fusion of genres without boundaries and style that builds a unique sound which makes this album a must have. Nick Thayer is a name to watch out out for this year.

Compa Dem A Talk Vinyl Release

UK Dubstep producer Compa dropped his single Dem A Talk which is a reworked version of Mavado's song Dem A Talk. The first set of vinyls released sold out in under 2 hours, which is pretty impressive. Compa stays true to the traditional UK style of dubstep, very minimal tracks with heavy bass focused in the subs. Did I mention that this is a white pressed vinyl, for you vinyl lovers out there.

You can order the vinyl here from his label's website.

For Bass Music Fans

Bass Music presents itself with dissonant beats, hall reverb on drum racks, layed back beats with simple, yet beautiful melodies, with that deep sub-bass. Torus just got onto the Sonic Router Records and this EP is coming out in March. Torus is quoted saying, “The idea behind this EP is that I wanted to make tracks that were deeper than just some throw away beats. I wanted to go in and truly create an environment; tracks that I really put some emotion into and that I could be proud of to be released as a whole.” He easily accomplishes this bay seamlessly going in between tracks on this mix, the soundscape takes you to a place of relaxation. Yeah the electronic voice over the tracks does get annoying I know.

If you want to check out more about the artist visit the Sonic Router Webpage, or check his Soundcloud

Gramatik Itz Over (F.A.Q. Remix)

For those of you who don't know who F.A.Q. plays backup guitar for Gramatik. He kills it in this remix by adding tasty guitar licks and putting the funk back into this Instrumental Hip-Hop track. This track is perfect for those days where all you want to do it lay back and relax. It's just begging for someone to spit a verse over it to bring it to the next level. You can download this track for free from the soundcloud player below.

Zedd's Breakn' A Sweat Electro House Remix

Becoming lost in a dubstep world which warship's the ground Skrillex walks on, I wasn't too interested in listening to a remix off Skrillex's latest album Bangarang. But I was pleasantly surprised by this bangin electro house remix Zedd released last week. The song still stays true to the original, but adds so much more that makes this song perfect for the dance floor. So DJs everywhere cue this up in your set and watch the dance floor move.

Feed Me - Escape From Electric Mountain

One of my favorite producers dropped his new EP yesterday, Feed Me. The tracks on this EP range from Electro House to Dubstep and even features a Moombahton track, recently becoming widely used by producers from Tambour Battant to Ophex. Feed Me's staple sound is still fully alive staying true to the mau5trap label sound. This album drops in time for fans to get acquainted with it before he starts his Feed Me with Teeth tour that starts in mid March, so check the link I post to see if he is coming to a town near you.

3LAU - Set Fire

This banger is for all you club rats who live to get down on the dancefloor. 3LAU just released his new remix of Adele's song Set Fire to the Rain. This remix absolutely kills it 3LAU's ability to remix and mashup pop songs, and transform them into tracks perfect for the club is unparalleled.

You can download this song from the soundcloud player above.

M83 Reunion (White Sea Remix)

White Sea (Morgan Kibby) released her remix of Reunion, which is one of the best remixes I've heard recently. The addition of bright sweeping synths and dreamy soundscape brings out this amazing washed out version of the track. You can listen to it off M83's facebook page, if you aren't already a fan the like of the page is well worth the track.

Break Science's new EP Monolith Code

Break Science released their new EP under Pretty Lights Record Label yesterday. This album is filled with six banger tracks which don't claim only one genera for their sound. Break Science is trying incorporate music styles in their EP which inspired them. This group has earned their place in the center stage of electronic music producers.
